Background
BG Education Management Solutions, Inc. (BGEMS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing language education. Its flagship initiative, the Mandarin Language Program, has been managed by BGEMS since 2019 under the sponsorship of the Confucius Institute of Western Kentucky (CIWKY).
A key pillar of this program is comprehensive teacher training. Teaching in China and teaching in the U.S. are fundamentally different experiences. In China, teachers are traditionally revered; in the U.S., the cultural perception is different, requiring foreign teachers to adapt to diverse classroom expectations and behaviors. To ensure successful instruction and classroom management, BGEMS/CIWKY equips teachers with the tools and strategies necessary to thrive in American classrooms.
